This beautiful grotto can be found along Rt. 20 near New Lebanon.

Brattleboro, VT

Walking along a side street, we came across this old building. Curt was photographing just the door, but I wanted to show the brick as well.

Sugar houses

South Face Farms Sugar house - Ashfield, MA We began the day here, with a hearty, homemade breakfast. They are well known for their pancakes and french toast...we waited an hour just for a table, but it was worth it. Contre-jour...for you Peter. While we waited for our name to be called for breakfast, I took a stroll and found this lovely tree backlit by the morning sun. Whetstone Valley Farm - Brattleboro, MA - Many sugar houses still hang buckets to tap the maple trees. The maple syrup was being poured as we were tasting, and oh my goodness, it was delicious. I bought a half gallon...should take me through next spring. They were boiling the sap today, as evidenced by the steam escaping and sweetening the air for miles. Making maple syrup is hard labor, between feeding the wood fire and evaporating the sap until it's the perfect consistency. I give these small sugar houses credit for a job well done. Their syrup was especially good, and it was wonderful to watch them pour my syrup, piping hot into the jug. It was still very warm when I got home to Delmar hours later.

A Day at the Park

The weather was gorgeous, and everybody was out and about enjoying the prelude to spring.

These little guys were just hanging around on the water's edge.

Five Rivers

I found a setting on my camera phone for landscape, and I have to say, I like the colors better. This setting seems to pick up more on golds and browns.

Vlomanskill Trail - Five Rivers

I walk this path frequently. It's a small section of the Vlomanskill Trail at Five Rivers (a conservation wildlife area in New Scotland). When I'm here, the business of the world slips away and I can relax a bit. I love this path in particular, because it goes deep into the woods at some points and then opens up to a small creek. In the summertime, I take off my sandals and dip my feet...I just love it.

Five Rivers

Again, this is along the path I walk at Five Rivers. I know I send a lot of posts from here, but this is where I find myself again and again.

Reflections at Five Rivers

It was unseasonable warm today, and it remained warm after work, so I headed out for a short hike through the woods. There's so much to see here...I never tire of it.

What a great day we had, sugar house hopping...maple syrup until your heart's content!

South Face Farms Sugarhouse - Ashfield, MA

We had a delicious breakfast! I had French toast made with fresh baked cinnamon bread.

I think this picture looks better in landscape format rather than it's portrait counterpart (above).

Our office at work is being painted, so my boss had no choice but to clean up his desk, which had several piles about a foot high. Now, it's all cleaned up with a fresh coat of paint.

Lake George

I hadn't even had my morning coffee yet when I decided to stop and take a few pictures down at the lake. It was so quiet and serene, I just loved it. While Curt was busy at his ADK meeting, I was out and about making pictures. This dock down at the lake struck my as unusual, for obvious reasons.

Moreau State Park

The evergreens are a welcome reminder that the landscape is only dormant and that within a few short weeks, all the trees will budding with life. It was a clear, crisp afternoon as we drove back from Lake George, so we decided to stop at Moreau and have a look around. I loved the juxtaposition of the white birches against the blue sky.

Five Rivers

I took a little walk at Five Rivers, though I had to be careful. There were several areas along the path that still had snow, and I didn't want to risk hurting my ankle, so I turned back.

The Creamery - Cummington, MA

I love this establishment! Home cooked food, comfortable atmosphere, always an eclectic bunch of people to chat with. Oh, and always fresh flowers on the table.

10 foot Frosty - Hinsdale, MA

We passed this snowman while driving around. He had to be 10-12 feet tall; I'd never seen anything like it. Awesome!
